How To Delete Photos From Iphoto Library On Mac

I transferred around 17,000 images from PC to a new iMac thru a network cable. On PC I was using Canon's ZoomBrowser to upload my photos.
After I transfered the photos, I noticed that some folders have different dates, others have two versions, 'slides' and 'thumbs'..
I suspect the reason for that is that I used to try all kinds of free image editing programs. It was fun, but all these programs installed something on my computer.
Almost all folders have at least these two files:
Thumbs.db & ZbThumbnails.info
Others also have photothumb.db & jpeggeri.dot ( it's from using Vallen Jpegger)
I want to delete the whole iPhoto Library with all the mess, and to transfer images from PC again, using a 2GB Flash Drive, to the desktop on Mac, few folders at a time.
And from there I'll transfer them to a new library.
Here are my questions:
1) How should I delete the iPhoto Library, to make sure nothing is left ?
Mine is: Finder>Places/user name/Pictures/iPhoto Library
OR: Finder>Places/user name/Public/My Pictures ?
2) Should I delete all these .db, .info, .dat files in each folder before transfer?
These may be the cause of problems.
thanks!
